Back to School, Travel Style

By Melissa Rice on September 11, 2018

Backpacks are filled, pencils are sharpened, and lunches are packed. It’s time to head back to school! Even if your days on campus are long gone, you can still keep learning. The world is your classroom, and there’s no limit to what you can discover as you travel.

Which subjects can you “study” during your next getaway?

Geography –

This one might seem obvious, but it’s surprising how little you can know about a location until you visit in person. Travel brings the map to life. You gain a better understanding of where countries, cities, and landmarks are—and how to navigate around them.

Social Studies –

Exploring new areas lets you experience the flavors, sounds, and styles of different cultures. Seeing how other people live can change your perspective and enhance your appreciation of the world around you.

Economics –

There’s nothing like planning a vacation during high season to help you understand the concept of supply and demand. Comparing travel options is also a lesson in cost-benefit analysis—But at least the benefits are a lot of fun! (For extra credit, check out our blog about boosting your travel budget.)

Foreign Language –

Travel is great motivation to learn a new language. Prep by using online programs, apps, or audio courses and then try it out during your trip.
